SITIOS DE BUCEO PARA EL CAMPEONATO EN LA PAZ BCS
1.- El Bajo – Conocido por el tiburón cabeza de martillo, la manta gigante y el tiburón ballena, el lugar perfecto para quienes buscan aventura. Es también uno de las mejores áreas para buceo profundo, combinado por una serie de arrecifes a profundidades de 60 a 130 pies (18 a 40 metros).
Una certificación de avanzado será requerida por la posibilidad de vientos y corrientes.
2.- Los Islotes – Una colonia de aprox. 300 lobos marinos, una gran variedad de diferentes especies de aves solo encontrados en esta isla Galápago, esta es una de las áreas favoritas para snorkels en la Paz. Compuesta de 2 Islas rocosas y un arco formado por la naturaleza, esta área ofrece una gran variedad de vida marina. Es el área ideal para sumergirse ya que esta protegido de vientos y corrientes tiene una profundidad de 10 a 100 pies (3 a 33 metros).
3.- El Bajito – El guía es necesario cuando buscan esta área. Puede ser difícil de encontrar y las corrientes crear una aventura. Se considera una de las zonas favoritas de los buzos en la baja. Este arrecife esta marcado con una línea extensa de rocas y coral decorada con diferente flora y fauna, una cantidad grande de peces visita esta área acompañados de morenas. Ideal para la fotografía. La profundidad esta entre los 30 y 70 pies (18 a 21 metros).
4.- Lapas 03 - Como parte de un programa de creación de arrecifes artificiales en el Mar de Cortes, La Paz 3 fue hundido en noviembre de 1999 cerca de la Isla Ballena al oeste de la Isla Espíritu Santo. Este buque de 165 pies de largo (55 metros) ahora reposa a una profundidad de 90 pies (30 metros) es la casa de una gran variedad de vida marina.
5.- Fang Ming - Este barco chino de 140 pies de longitud (46 metros) fue hundido en noviembre de 1999 como parte del programa de creación de arrecifes artificiales en el Mar de Cortes. El Fang Ming fue adaptado para aquellos que gustan de explorar el interior de barcos y descubrir la vida marina que habita en él.
6.- El Corralito – Una perfecta locación para nuevos buzos y clases de Open Water Diver, esta área es una pared de rocas a una profundidad de 30 a 50 pies (10 a 17 metros) Ya sea para buceo o snorkel El Corralito lo sorprenderá con la belleza de sus aguas poco profundas.
7.- Lobera vieja – Alguna ves esta fue la casa de los lobos marinos, por ahora la dejaron para diferentes criaturas como la manta que nos visita en primavera. También pueden disfrutar del coral escondido entre el arrecife a profundidades entre 70 y 90 pies (23 y 30 metros).
8.- Swanne – Este arrecife, responsable por el hundimiento del Ferry Salvatierra se expande al sur de la Isla de Espíritu Santo. La morena verde, peces tropicales y tortugas han hecho de este arrecife un magnífico hábitat.
9.- Ferry Salvatierra – En 1976, este Ferry viajaba de forma regular de Topolobampo a La Paz hundiéndose después de chocar con el arrecife Swanne. Este Ferry de 300 pies de largo (30 metros) es un excelente ecosistema donde habitan morenas, guachinango y una gran diversidad de peces tropicales. Posibles corrientes fuertes en el cambio de marea alta a baja.
10.- San Rafaelito - Un pintoresco faro situado sobre un arrecife de una profundidad de 75 pies (25 metros). Gran cantidad de peces y ocasiones lobos marinos, aprovechan el confort de esta roca, a solo una corta distancia de nuestra Marina La Paz es también el lugar favorito para buceo nocturno.
11.- La Reina – Este lugar es uno de los más hermosos de la zona. Con un viaje de aproximadamente 1 hora y 30 minutos, el precioso paisaje captará tu imaginación. Avistamientos de mamíferos marinos, como delfines y ballenas son muy posibles durante la travesía hacia y desde el lugar. Con una profundidad de 80 ft puedes encontrar coral cerebro, pez cirujano cola amarilla, pez globo y mucho más.
12.- La Reinita – Una pequeña cresta rocosa localizada en el lado oeste de Isla Cerralvo. Pequeñas corrientes proveen a la vida marina en esta zona con un suministro de alimentos de calidad. Puedes encontrar enormes cardúmenes de peces y corales, que son ocasionalmente visitados por manta rayas del Pacífico. Estas famosas gigantes, pero amables criaturas, alcanzan hasta 12 pies de ancho.
SITES OF DIVING FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP IN LA PAZ BCS
1.- El Bajo – Famous for hammerhead sharks, giant mantas and whale sharks, this site is perfect for those searching for adventure. It is also one of the best locations for deep diving as it is composed of a series of three submarine mountains ranging in depth from 60-130 ft.
Advanced certification necessary as this site is unprotected from prevailing winds with possible strong currents at times.
2.- Los Islotes – With a colony of 250-300 California sea-lions and various species of bird that are only found in the Galapagos Islands, this site is one of the favorites to dive or snorkel while in La Paz. Composed of two small rocky islands and a naturally formed arch, this site offers a huge variety of marine life and beauty for you to submerge yourself in. It is perfect for beginners as is protected from winds and currents. Depths range from 10-100 ft
3.- El Bajito – A guide is a must when seeking this site. It can be difficult to locate and the currents can create an adventure. It still remains one of the most popular dive sites in Baja. This reef is marked with large lines of rocks and corals decorated with different types of marine flora and fauna, as a large number a fish visit this area along with Moray eels. Perfect for photographers. Depths range from 30 – 70 ft.
4.- Lapas 03 - As part of a program to create artificial reefs in the Sea of Cortez, LA PAS 03 was sunk in November of 1999 near Isla Ballena on the west side of Espiritu Santo Island. This 165 ft. long vessel now rests in a depth of 90 ft and its home to a large variety of marine life.
5.- Fang Ming - This 140 ft long Chinese vessel was also sunk in November of 1999, as part of the program to create artificial reefs in the Sea of Cortez. The Fang Ming has been adapted specifically for divers so they can explore the interior of the vessel and discover the marine life that thrives in it. 70- 80 ft.
6.- El Corralito – An outstanding location for novice divers and lessons for Open Water divers, this area is an overhang of rocks with depths of 35-50 ft. When diving or snorkeling El Coralito, you will be amazed by the beauty found in some of the shallowest depths. You can come across innumerable schools of rainbow wrasse, sergeant majors, puffer and balloon fish.
7.- Old Sea Lion Colony – At one time this location was home to a colony of sea lions. It has now been left for other marine life such as Mantas, which visit in the spring. You can also enjoy the coral hiding in the cracks and openings of this 70-90 ft deep reef.
8.- Swanne – This rock reef is held responsible for the sinking of the Salvatiera Ferry in 1976. It lies south of Espiritu Santo Island. Eels, tropical fish and turtles have made this reef an excellent habitat.
9.- Salvatierra Ferry wreck – In 1976, this ferry that traveled regularly from Topolobampo to La Paz, sank after running into Swanne reef. This 300 ft long vessel now rests 60ft below the surface and is an excellent habitat for moray eels, red snappers, turtles and an uncountable amount of tropical fish. Some strong currents are possible just before and after high and low tides.
10.- San Rafaelito - Situated under a quaint light house lies a reef 75ft deep. Numerous fish and occasionally sea lions take advantage of this beautiful area that is just a short boat ride from our marina in La Paz. It is also favorite for night diving.
11.- La Reina – This site is one of the most beautiful in the area. With a ride of about 1 hr. and 30 minutes, beautiful scenery wills capture your imagination. Sightings of marine mammals such as dolphins and whales are very possible during the boat ride to and from the site. With a depth of 80ft you can seek out brain corral, yellow tail surgeon fish, balloon fish and many more.
12.- La Reinita – A small rock pinnacle located on the west side of Cerralvo Island. Small currents provide the marine life in this area with a plush food supply. You can encounter huge schools of fish and corals, which are occasionally visited by Pacific Manta Rays. These famous giant, but gentle, creatures reach widths of up to 12 ft.
